Health & Wellness
Regular physical activity is one of the most important things one can do for mental health and physical wellbeing. WCFA is committed to advance its mission to create a happier, healthier and more fulfilled lifestyles for individuals with autism in our communities. By offering access to a state-of-the-art campus grounds designed with features to stimulate motor, cognitive, sensory and social skills. And programs aimed to encourage healthy living through activities that nurture and enrich both, mind and body, such as: art & music, fitness & yoga classes, gardening, balanced nutrition & cooking classes and more.
oMusic/Art Room: Instructional space offering participants individual or group lessons in music and art classes while gaining opportunities to realize self-expression and showcase their artistic and musical talents. oSensory Garden: Green outdoor space on campus strategically designed to engage visitors in nature and provide a place of tranquility and peace.
oPond: As part of the sensory garden experience, the pond offers visitors a place of visual appeal, peace and tranquility.
o Greenhouse: The Greenhouse Program will be a home to our very own horticultural center offering participants a place to learn propagation and cultivation of plants, fruit, vegetables and herbs to be used for food, comfort and beauty. The program will cultivate future gardeners, growers and florists that can go out in the world and spread their beauty.
oBasketball Court: The basketball court facilitates daily activity and movement fostering increased blood and oxygen flow, positively affecting cognitive development, physical health and mental well-being of participants.
oGym: A fitness center, equipped with a variety of exercise machines and space for personal training and fitness classes.
o Sports Center: Featuring multi-sport simulators allowing visitors to play various sports, including golf, baseball, tennis and more.
Vocational Training
We work with providers to bring their clients to the Winters Center for Autism for job training and job placement.
We provide a facility where our partner agencies can simulate work experiences for adults with autism in specific career areas including:
o Training Office: Will offer space for vocational training in office duties such as data entry, shredding, copying, filing, snack/coffee delivery, mail sorting and delivery.
o Technology Training Center: Training in office skills needed for successful employment, such as; proper use of office equipment, introduction to Microsoft Office, timekeeping and management, office communication and work etiquette. o Salon: The program will range from desensitization support in receiving haircuts, or hot shaves, or manicures to overall hygiene for job interview preparedness. Regular access to these services promotes importance of self-presentation needed for a successful employment or an internship placement.
o Teaching Café: Training in greeting patrons, table setting, cleaning, stocking, kitchen duties and cooking classes.
o Grocery Store: Job training in supermarket duties such as inventory control, stocking, bagging and cleaning.
o Hotel Training Room: Job training in residential and commercial cleaning.
o Secure Shredding Operation/ Warehouse: A multipurpose space equipped to offer work training opportunities to participants through collaboration with Winters Bros. Secure Shredding.
o Laundry Center: Will offer participants with job training in laundry services needed for employment in hospitality industries.
